Special Features: Not necessarily “special features” per se, but Nikolai’s eyes are a very distinctive blue in color, and one of the first things many notice about him (though granted, it could be because of his tendency to stare at people all the time). He also has a single strand of hair sticking out at the top of his head. He can’t comb it down no matter how hard he tries.

Myths / legends / ghosts || Very much interested in anything dark and a bit dangerous, Nikolai loves folklore and ghost stories. He can’t considered them scary, as he has been able to see ghosts for as long as he can remember, but he finds it intriguing how people make up things just to scare themselves and their peers. Is human mind really such a peculiar thing that it actually desires fear? He’s also very interested in what lies beyond this life, and ghosts are the closest he can get to finding anything out.
Success || Nikolai hates failure, especially if it means letting down those whom his orders came from. He loves the feeling he gets out of every completed mission, and cannot sleep his nights well if he knows he hasn’t fulfilled his duties. As such, whenever he gets a mission or a job, he’ll go off and complete it given the first opportunity. He never rushes things, however. He wouldn’t let such an elementary mistake ruin his work.
Affection || In moderate amounts, mind you. He doesn’t like hugs, kisses or touching in general, but he does appreciate people showing it when they like him. He’s not that good of a people reader and has no idea what others are thinking before they voice their opinions, and so he’s afraid of showing any feelings of attachment before he knows they are returned in full. He doesn’t want to repeat history by making the same mistakes he did with his sister. He was so sure she loved him too…
His Siblings || Although his relationship with the two is… difficult at best, he dearly loves both his brother and sister, and damned be anyone who would wish them harm. He loves his sister more than a brother usually would, and although his own brother sometimes gets on his nerves, he feels close to him as well. Now if only he got to know whether or not his sister feels the same way he does. They aren’t getting any younger, and he’s eager to fulfill his dream of starting a family.
Modest people || Nikolai has never been a fan of those who see the need to brag or boast with their successes. He is well aware that some people are born more lucky and wealthy than others, and that some are just destined for greatness. Does that mean one needs to shove it in the face of those less unfortunate? No. Hence, he appreciates people who keep their mouth shut and treat others well despite any difference in status or rank they might have. He likes those who don’t complain about the harshness of their work or the little sum of their pay as well. People who aren’t content with what they have yet don’t do anything to change should either stay quiet and endure or give up and die.
Death || He is neither suicidal nor homicidal, but yes, Nikolai likes death. Or, rather, he respects it and its power, and thinks it’s very beautiful – almost poetic. He never really liked humans or their tendency to elevate themselves above others and create hierarchies, and so he loves the way Death makes everyone equal. It doesn’t matter if you’re a king or a servant, when Death comes to you, all your possessions and strength become meaningless. It’s such a simple thing and yet, it can take everything from a person in an instant, be it their joy or their sorrow. How could anyone not see the beauty of that raw, undiscriminating strength?
Children || Well, he doesn’t necessarily like them, but he’s willing to forgive them for things he’d have an adult cut open in seconds. He also considers them a lot purer and more innocent than their adult counterparts, not yet tainted by the world or the adults inhabiting it. He thinks that such innocence should be preserved for as long as possible, and therefore won’t take kindly to anyone committing crimes against, or in the presence of, children. He does think that the brats can get annoying though, and isn’t one to enjoy their constant questions and loudness.
Rebellions || It's a beautiful thing when a king falls by the hands of his people, is it not? It shows that, no matter how powerful a ruler you might be, if you don't serve the people, the people will get rid of you. When a rebellion arises, it means the king hasn't been doing his job, and that all the wrongs will be righted once more. That isn't to say Nikolai would wish for something like that to happened to his own country, nor any other where the people are content, however.[/ul]
Dislikes:
Being told what to do || While Nikolai is loyal to his superiors and rarely acts against an order, he will immediately retaliate if his superiors attempt to boss him around. He appreciates politeness, and will not have anyone barking him orders. If you need him to do something for you, treat him like an equal, not like a slave to be whipped about as you please. He hates hierarchies as and cast systems as it is, you really don’t want to fuel his hate to the point it becomes dangerous to everyone involved.
Being betrayed || Both a strong dislike and an actual fear, Nikolai despises betrayal above anything else. Whether it’s betraying friend or abandoning your country, he won’t stand it and will not give second chances to traitors. In this world where the only thing you have are people’s words and where trust is very difficult to earn, those turning their back to said trust are the lowest of the low to him. He knows the pain of betrayal and the feeling of constant doubt and paranoia it leaves the other in, and wouldn’t wish it even upon his worst adversary.
People || By default, Nikolai doesn’t like people. He thinks of them as selfish, pleasure-seeking creatures that will end up destroying the very world they live in one day. Most of them are annoying, a great deal of them violent and dishonest, and some even downright manipulative or disloyal. Usually, he prefers not to spend any more time in large crowds than absolutely necessary, and prefers working solo to going with a platoon; part of the reason why he prefers assassinations to full-out battles. Yet, despite Nikolai’s negative view on people, he can grow fond of a select few when given time and the right circumstances.
Loneliness || As contradictive as it might sound after the previous bulletin point yes, Nikolai isn’t fond of absolute loneliness, especially if it lasts for long. While he enjoys nightly walks and just… standing around, staring at people and things and following them around deep in thought, he doesn’t like to be secluded from absolutely everyone. He wants at least a few people around him, annoying as they are. He doesn’t want to feel like he’s the last man alive. He’s already experienced that once, and he knows it’s not the dead who suffer the most, it’s those left behind.
Loud noises || He gets headaches from them, and they make him even grumpier than usual. He hates loud crowds and kids that can’t keep their mouth shut as well, and if anyone trying to give him orders yells, it’s very likely said orders will be purposefully ignored until the person can speak in a more civil manner.[/ul]
