Social Rank: Noble
Occupation: Noble Woman

Height: 5’9”
Special Features: Belgium’s looks are best known for the feline-like grin she usually wears. Even when she doesn’t feel like smiling, the woman still tries to keep a smile on her face. Her naturally wavy, short, and blonde hair encompasses a small face with vivid green eyes that always seem to hold a gentle gaze with livid amounts of mischievousness.
She’s also known for being a rather tall woman, even without the use of heels she stands at a leisurely five foot and nine inches. Belgium has a rather preferred style. She likes anything she can move in, but she’s especially fond of flowing clothes, like dresses. Not those skin tight ones, the ones that flutter out and give lots of room to move around. Not that she has a problem with skin tight, seeing as how open she is, but she is rather plain in how she chooses to dress. The one thing that never fails about her clothing is that she almost always has a ribbon in her hair, the color depends on her mood.
Likes:
- Her Siblings (Most of the time)
- Alcohol; She loves alcohol. Beer most specifically. German Beer, Dutch Beer, mostly Belgian Beer. Wines, especially French and Italian and Spanish wines, among other things. Anything alcoholic is her delight. She’s pretty good at holding her liquor, but she becomes a rather easily amused, giggly, and affectionate drunk when she’s done herself in.
- Chocolate; she loves the stuff. It’s great for her nerves and she feels even calmer when she’s in a kitchen making it. It also brings a smile to her face when other’s enjoy the chocolate that she makes with her whole heart.
- Ribbons; she’s always wore one in her hair since she was a little girl. They’re usually a good indication as to her mood; she tends to unconsciously pick lighter colors for her happier moods and darker colors for her sadder ones.
- Food; especially gourmet. Though she doesn’t eat all that much, Marianne absolutely adores food; constantly wanting to take a little nibble of everyone else’s meal and just get to try some of everything. Wafels, fries, tomatoes and chocolates being her favorites.
- Gardens/farms (Flowers always make everything so pretty! Plus, Fresh veggies, who doesn’t like that?
Dislikes:
- Bland foods; considering how much of a gourmet she is when it comes to foods and how much she loves to cook for those around her.. When she sees or, even worse, tastes bland or badly cooked food, she’ll pout and refuse to eat until the quality is improved. Unless of course she’s trying to not hurt a person’s feelings. That’s the only time she’ll eat it and keep a smile, even if it kills her.
- Being alone; the Belgian is simply, such a people-person, she doesn’t quite know what to do with herself when she’s alone. The only exception to this is when she’s cooking or cleaning. Other than that, she really prefers -even if it’s only companionable silence, to be around another being.
- Prudes for a lack of better words; Marianne is rather a free spirit when it comes to whether or not she wears all her clothes. And she finds that the body -any body- is a beautiful piece of art. To have stiff people ridicule another’s body simple because they’re more comfortable in their skin, drives her insane.
- Bullies; She knows full well how sad it feels to be bullied. So she isn’t exactly fond of them. To be completely honest, she thinks if some one wants to bully, they should go take a flying leap! But sadly, she still always manages to get bullied into things.
- Having her food rejected; She puts love into every piece of food she makes. So to have it rejected or wasted makes her very, very upset and sulky. And there’s no two ways about it, her discontent is obvious.
Strengths:
- Smile; It may not seem like much. But a smile can be quiet a weapon. Even if she’s depressed, she’ll do her best to wear a smile so no one will worry. And the more she smiles, the more she can fool herself into believing she’s okay.
- Kindness; She’s got a surprising amount of forgiveness in her. She does her best to treat everyone with kindness, regardless of situations, races, species. In fact, unless she’s having a tantrum, she finds it much easier to treat people with the kindness she hopes to be treated back with.
- Baking; It is her delight. Anything to do with baking, especially chocolate themed baking. Sometimes she can get a bit carried away, but she believes that sweet things will help a person’s mood. So she always attempts to keep freshly made pastries, snacks, chocolates on her person.
- Optimism; She knows how to be optimistic and uses it to the best of her advantage! It’s a great strength and weapon to have. And it’s useful for not getting depressed easily like some people do.
- Chores; She’s rather good with house-hold chores like cleaning and other such things -as long as she doesn‘t try to lift anything too heavy. It tends to go along with her plainness. She rather nicely fit’s the idea of a house-wife locked in a kitchen when she’s not drinking.
Weaknesses:
- Trouble with strong emotions; For the most part she’s a fairly open person. But Marianne sometimes has trouble expressing strong emotions. Usually when she cries over something it’s just a small misdemeanor. But when there is actually something that breaks her heart, she caves in on herself, keeping it locked away with a smile. For the more happier emotions, she can sometimes get embarrassed and end up messing it up by bringing chocolate into the conversation.
- Oblivious; She’s rather sharp, but her gentle nature makes her more trusting of people. This can cause a disadvantage when people take advantage of this nature of hers to use her. Even if she realizes she’s being used, she’ll force a smile and say something along the lines of at least she was able to help some one.
- Drinking; she’s a little too fond of the bottle. It might just be her best friend and one true soul mate. She isn’t exactly known for knowing when enough is enough when she’s together with this ‘lover’.
- Finicky; Due to many aspects of her nature, she’s a bit finicky. Her dislike for bland foods… Her being nosy in other people’s business. Unfortunately this finicky attitude puts her on a roller-coaster of emotions which are never too good when you need a calm head to think clearly.
- Lack of presence; Marianne, for as out-going and friendly as she is, can be compared to a wall-flower. Or rather, she is one. She tries her best to be unique, friendly, and cheerful, but that doesn’t always get a person attention, leaving her a little at odds.
Dreams:
- Family; Marianne wants children, but more specifically a family. Sure, the life of a noblewoman is…. Comfortable, but Marianne would much rather live in a little cottage with a pristine fence, children, some dogs running around, and a husband. She doesn’t mind having to work hard, even if she isn’t very strong. As long as she can earn a living and be happy together with a husband and children, she’d be the happiest person in the world.
- Café; With how she was raised, never -having- to lift a finger, she likes the idea of her own café. With people eating her food and having a good time. Chatting and having fun. Enjoying the food and the atmosphere. Such a scene seems nice -but her first dream is still more desired.
- Alcohol; Marianne wants to try all the alcohol in the world! She prefers a good old beer. But she’d really like to get to try all the types even if just once. Even a Snake Wine she’s heard of, although it does seem a little gross. But yeah, in general, lots of good alcohol in her future is a small dream she feels she can realize, maybe someday she can try them all.
Fears:
- Loveless Relationship; It may seem shameless, but Marianne would sooner be the mistress of a man who loves her (and vice versa ) than the wife of a man who doesn’t love her (And vice versa). If she had to marry a man who didn’t love her, there would be no point in starting the family she wants because it would be too cruel to the children in her eyes. - But Despite that, as a Noble Woman, she was trained from a very young age to know her duties.
- Lose the ability to use her hands; Belgie LOVES cooking, and doing so many other things that require using your hands. So the idea of losing the ability, whereas not often popping up, is quite scary for her. And besides that… Who really would want to lose such a useful ability as being able to do things and hold things?
- Drowning; Marianne isn’t a very good swimmer, so she’s always fretful of drowning, even though she loves playing in water. She’ll avoid it unless she has floaties or a life jacket or a friend to cling onto -or she doesn‘t plan on going far. And unfortunately, she’s the type who can’t think rationally in such situation. She panics and ends up doing herself in worse than actually saving herself.
Personality: When people first meet Marianne, most can’t help but think of what a cheerful young woman she is. And this is quite the truth. The Belgian woman is almost always smiling- genuinely to the surprise of some- due to the fact she takes such great appreciation in the little things in life. The mundane things that others tend to overlook in the tense tragedy that can be the world around. While some may find it silly or cliché for her to gain such happiness from the normally insignificant things in life, Marianne doesn’t find this to be true at all. If you’re going to wait around for extraordinary or unusual or miraculous things to come around and make you happy, your smiles are going to be few and far between. So why not enjoy the things you do often? You only live once, after all. This is more along the lines of how the blonde tries to keep such a cheerful vibe about herself..
Being so sunshine-y though, typically isn’t enough to make a person stand out or catch anyone’s eye. This is the case of Marianne. She’s physically fairly easy on the eyes; but her plain, inconspicuous clothes tend to downplay that fact more often than not. Her smile is lovely (as is the case of all genuine smiles); but she smiles so often, it seems to have become one of those mundane things that get overlooked easily. Her personality can be quite charming; but she doesn’t speak very loudly unless she‘s shouting, and is easily bullied into other’s bidding. All of these little things about her.. Have, in time, turned Marianne into a quiet (for the most part), wallflower. She doesn’t mind, its all she’s ever known really; though from time to time, her mind does tend to wonder what it would be like to be the center of attention just once.
As mentioned earlier, Marianne is quite easily pushed around and bullied. She doesn’t like confrontation of any kind. Physical fighting, verbal arguing or simply tense situations; she really hates them. Because of how much she dislikes these, she often winds up just going along with the demands of others, simply to avoid arguing with them. It doesn’t help her situation that she’s usually not a very adamant person; it doesn’t take much for a more aggressive personality to persuade her- one way or another- into doing as they ask. Not to mention… She can be a bit of a cry-baby, she tries not to show it though. She puts on a ‘brave face’.
All that aside... The Belgian is quite the little snuggle-bug most times. She’s often hugging or leaning against someone if they’re standing; Snuggling or cuddling with them if they’re seated. Holding hands is another one of her little joys in life; this simple, little act of friendship (or even something more) can make her truly happy for days on end. Do to her affectionate nature, she often forgets that not everyone is as comfortable with physical contact and physical affection as she is. Once she realizes the other person isn’t as touchy as her, she’ll be more understanding, but she is rather mischievous so there is the chance she might tease them a bit as well.
Despite how wall-flower like she can seem, it also can’t be under-estimated how fun-loving this woman is. She likes to tease, she likes to drink. No, she loves to drink, and sometimes that’s not always good. As the woman already possesses little concern for the show of nudity, --you can really blame the French half for that--- when this woman who can probably drink the best of them under the table actually becomes drunk it isn’t unlikely that you’ll find her clothes up a tree the next morning.

History:
Marianne’s father is a nobleman and an entrepreneur of sorts. He’s always gone off to the other kingdoms on business trips even before she was born and unfortunate to say it, he never was quite as faithful as her mother would have liked. Still, her mother got four children to adore from the man, Marianne being the youngest. And Marianne’s childhood was not a bad one. She was a wee bit over guarded due to her mother thinking her bone deficiency was the end of the world and being so sure she’d break something if Marianne was allowed to stray too far outside.
Her older brothers were quite vicious about picking on her, minus the oldest one who seemed far too engrossed with taking over their father’s title as soon as possible. And Marianne was rather simple, liking to get her hands into whatever she could from painting, to piano, flute, saxophone -the last of the instruments being her mother’s least favorites as Marianne, while quite talented, seemed to have trouble holding it. Cooking and cleaning -another thing her mother disliked, but if it kept Marianne inside, she bent.
And whenever her father was home, he was training her to be a good little soldier and put her duties as a Paritan Noblewoman before her own self. He was a little too enthused with the idea of giving her up to the royals as a womb when he’d heard the best Queen candidate was male. Of course, this was his little secret as his wife would balk at the idea of giving her baby to that “beastly” prince. But her father was more interested in the benefits. And Marianne being the loyal, obedient child she always has been, followed his trainings to a T.
Over the years, she’s obviously heard rumours about her father’s infidelity bearing bastards, but two cases struck her fancy in particular. The first being a supposed big brother from Medius. The story seemed too unreal to be true, but if it was… A part of her hoped to meet. Maybe they’d be much more affectionate than the brothers she had. Unfortunately, she never gained enough information to go on and too much of her attention always seemed to be busy focusing on what her father wanted.
Especially as of late with the royals wanting an heir. Her father seemed damned and determined to get it done. She on the other hand, was much more laxed by this point in her life and spent more time day-dreaming. After all this time, her father had been put off, she figured there wasn’t much to worry about him succeeding anymore, thus she spent most of her time idyllically day-dreaming about having her own little family and husband.

Additional Information: Despite how flirtatious she seems, she‘s actually yet to be embraced by a man. Her flirtiness is just that, flirtiness. She wouldn‘t let a man go that far unless it was her duty or a man she loved.
Marianne has a bone deficiency, so whereas she loves playing the Saxophone, she has trouble holding it up. And in general she can‘t hold things that are too heavy for too long a period of time.
Roleplay Sample: The woman was shoved, rather so too. Had he been shoving a human, they probably would have fell backwards and knocked their head on the headstone behind them. Luckily for the Belgian woman she had a rather feline affinity with balance. Usually. Marianne actually felt slightly amused when the man stood between her and the head-stone. It was almost cute to see some one actually caring for the dead instead of treating them like they didn’t matter.
But that didn’t change the fact, Marianne’s beliefs on how to deal with them did not coincide with the man’s. What’s more is she found it extremely rude that he had actually shoved her. It could have been dealt with much more civilly, like asking her to get off. Or grabbing her and yanking her off, not shoving her off the head-stone.
The woman placed her hands on her hips, the tail swished, haughtily, back and forth on it’s own. At first the woman was going to stare the man down again, but she had to admit he was right about being more respectful, and at least his heart was in the right place. He just wanted to make things more comfortable for the dead, right?
So rather than using a tone with him, the woman just relaxed her stance and her tail. She kept the pleasant smile and said in a gentle manner, “You’re right. I should be more careful about that. However, if I had fell and hit my head, what would you have done? At worst I would die. At best I would be caught if I didn’t wake up before anyone came. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want that forced on me, so I wouldn’t want to force some one else to endure either fate.”
The woman waggled her finger at the man with an air of humor. Probably not the best person to be full of sun-shines with, but everyone should have the best in them looked for! The woman continued on her friendly little lecture, “Besides. If I died… I’d want people to dance on my grave, spray beer everywhere, and say I was still fun to be with. I’d want some one to come visit often, hug my grave, and talk to me like I still exist. I wouldn’t want some man standing over it in the form of a behemoth dog, with a gloomy disposition. It makes the air too thick. You have a cute face so smile more, ma cherie.”
The woman turned away from him and continued waltzing toward the church, in a much better disposition than before. She wasn’t really scared anymore. If this man actually wanted to hurt anyone, he would have hurt her, not tried scaring her off with words. Her voice was more of a cheerful and amused chirp than anything as she called back at him, “Remove me? I have faith in my ability to run. Faster than you if we’re both on two legs, liebe.”
