F.A.Q If you have a question that is not answered here, please make a new thread with your questions in the F.A.Q section and it will be answered as soon as possible. Q. What are the Kingdoms’ relationships to one another?[/u] Before the Prosperous Three became so well established, they were small, simple domains. Penuria and Pariter that banded together to form an alliance the moment both were stable. That alliance last around 64 years before the Kingdom of Medius; who had always helped out, though never an official part of the alliance, became their third member. Safety in numbers in the growing, turbulent world around them. But as each began to form its own identity.. Small tensions and conflicts that existed before, began to grow greater in severity and even greater in number. Eventually, the strain on the alliance became so great, that Penuria and Pariter turned on one another. Thus not only ending the alliance between themselves, but with Medius as well. While a true war did not result, they were far from kind to one another for over 20 years. Embargoes, increased taxes, exiling people who had immigrated during the peace.. And just being harsh to eachother in every matter possible. While both still desired a partnership with Medius, it was not possible with Medius being on fairly good terms with them both. Choosing one over the other would simply make an enemy of the other. So in the end, Medius shunned them both for some time. In current times, their relationships have improved slightly; as in Pariter and Penuria could stand to be civil with one another.. But it seems as if any offense could be the straw that broke the camera’s back. The White Kingdom and Black Kingdom are both welcome in the Grey Kingdom; as long as its not simultaneous. However Paritans are unwelcome in Penuria as Penurians are unwelcome in Pariter. Q. What sorts of technology do the Kingdoms have?[/u] Technology is just barely beginning to head into the direction of a true, industrial revolution once more. Medius is leading it, with its turbines in the bay; used to help move the raw lumber along for processing by workers. Weapons range from swords and daggers, to bows and arrows, to very simple explosives. Other uses of technology include various simple machines, such as levers, pulleys and so on. Q. What’s up with the languages?[/u] Nearly all of the languages (French, Spanish, German, Japanese, ect.) are considered “dead languages” in this age. English was the most widespread language before the world was born again, and so it is practically the only one in use in the Kingdoms. Some of the royals (usually Kings) and high nobility (usually Bishops) are partially or fully fluent in some of these “dead languages”. It has always been considered part of their blood line; part of what separates them from commoners. While few can understand them when its used, they still take pride in speaking it and often pass on what they can, to their children. Q. If the King and Queen are of the same gender, how is an heir produced?[/u] If by chance both King and Queen are male, the Bishops will gather a selection of suitable noblewomen for him to procreate with; going through one every month or two until an heir is produced. The male Queen, however, is forbidden to have children of his own. If by chance both King and Queen are female, then male member of their court; Bishops, Knights and Rooks, will be chosen to procreate an heir with their female King. Again, the Queen would be forbidden to have children of her own. The only way a Queen would be allowed to bare children herself, is if her King is male. In that case, neither are permitted to sleep with anyone else but eachother. Q.What are the consequences for romantic (or even purely sexual) relationship between a Royal and someone else besides their partner?[/u] It varies from situation to situation.. However, the Royal involved, will always receive the lesser punishment. If its the King, perhaps a severe scolding, or tighter restrictions; but being the King, obviously not much can be done to him. If its the Queen, depending on how taboo her error was, she can recieve a punishment similar to the King’s or, in the worst case scenario, be deemed unfit to rule. Thus, removed from her title to return to whatever place in society she held before. For the party, however.. It could range from imprisonment, to exile, to execution. If the other party is from another Kingdom.. That becomes a different story entirely. Should it be discovered, while all of the above would happen, it could lead to assassinations, or even war.

Q. How are the Kings and Queens allowed to interact with one another, between kingdoms?[/u] While of course they are expected to be civil at the very least, and "friendship" is encouraged to keep the Kingdoms stable.. It is usually deemed unacceptable for them to become true friends, and of course, forbidden for them to become anything more. The reason for this, being that if politics between Kingdoms ever fell out; it would become harder for the Royals to make the best decisions for their Kingdom. Anything beyond a 'friendly distance', is simply, a clash of interests. Q.What are the King and Queen usually doing? Do they have any "free time", etc.?[/u] The King does almost absolutely anything they want. Despite being the most important, they typically have the least responsibilities. Making public appearances, signing laws, kissing babies at the very minimum. The first being the most important. The Queen has much more things to do; ranging from training with the Knights and Rooks, making and amending laws, handling foreign affairs through her Bishop, keeping an eye on the economy. She does get a bit of free time here and there in between those things.. But not nearly as much as the King. Even then, both are still under restrictions from some activities, varying between Kingdoms, usually decided by the Bishops. Q. How do people from different Kingdoms greet one another?[/u] While most citizens and some Pawns, Knights and Kings won't know other Kingdom's ways of greeting.. It is standard for Rooks, Bishops and Queens to know the other two's greetings. And, as the those three titles know; it is customary in all three Kingdoms to do both greetings, one after the other. i.e The Queen of Penuria and the Queen of Pariter meet; first they would kiss cheeks and embrace per Penurian greeting, and then move on into the Paritan greeting before conversation began. Q. What kind of sports and recreational activities exist in the Kingdoms?[/u] The main sports and activities of Penuria include; Field Archery, Bocce, Grappling, Fencing, Horse Racing and Football. The main sports and activities of Medius include; Field Archery, Kickball, Paint-tag, Swordfighting, and Football. The main sports and activities of Pariter include; Field Archery, Biribol, Flamenco, Acro Dance, Fishing, and Football. The three kingdoms often engage in Archery competitions and ‘friendly’ games of football. Q. What is the clothing like?[/u] In Penuria, the clothing ranges with the seasons; shorter, thinner in the warmer months and longer, thicker in the colder months. Both men and women tend to wear pants more often than anything else. Skirts, dresses and court robes are saved only for special or formal occasions. Shoes are typically made of leather, very sturdy and long lasting. In Medius, clothes aren’t usually made of the normal, soft fabrics that Penuria and Paritan clothing is. Instead, its made of a special kind of water-resistant material found only in the Grey Kingdom. They have separate clothing for inside occasions and outside occasions; the inside being softer, less durable, while the outside are always water-resistant and often hooded. Rubber boots are staple for all. In Pariter, all clothing is extremely thin, very close to being see through. However, outfits are always very long; long pants, long skirts, long-sleeved shirts. It helps to shield skin from the intense sunlight, while still being thin enough to help keep them cool as well. Unlike the other two kingdoms, sandals and heeled shoes are most common.

Q.What is Winterfest? Winterfest is a celebration that starts around the time the Winter Solstice does. It's a celebration of death and the triumph over it. Wildfires are started during the beginning of Winterfest and people burn old, unneeded things. Normal citizens decorate themselves in silver and blue and putt the ash of their things in their hair. Virgins get the wildfire ash thrown at their bodies and are then paraded to the castles, where the King blesses them and gives them gifts. They then take a ceremonial bath and wash out the ash. Q.What are the Winterfest Trials? An old tradition is that Winterfest has change in it, and that change is the Queens being put on trial by the other ranks. Each kingdom devises trials for their Queen. The Pawns devise a trial testing the goodwill and community service of the Queen. The Rooks make a trial to test the patriotism of the Queen. The Bishops test the way the Queen handles diplomatic situations. The Knights test the way the Queen deals with moral issues. And the King makes up a test based on the personal relationship they have with the Queen. If the Queen fails any trials, they are relieved of their post. The Queen is stripped of all ranks and prohibited to reenter the ranks again. This goes for all ranked members. If you are kicked out of a court, you are kicked out of that court forever. Q.Visitation Rights? If the Queen is removed from the post after producing a child with the King, they are allowed to visit the children. However they cannot take the child away.
