Personality: Generally, Basch comes off as harsh and aloof person. He doesn’t talk very much, and definitely isn’t the one to socialize. When asked something, the answers are usually short and to the point. He enjoys solitude, and dodges large crowds. He grew up in a noble family, and was taught the rules of appropriate behaviour. However, he rarely acts like them. He isn’t necessarily rude but has shorter than short temper. Young man is easily annoyed, and he also tells when he is. One wrong word or action, and you are probably either yelled at or have blade millimetres from your throat. He is embarrassed easily, and hates doing anything that could lead him to ignominious light. In addition to this, he is also annoyed by others doing embarrassing things.
Despite his usual behaviour, Basch has a kind heart. This is usually overshadowed by his bad temper, but if you get close enough to him you’ll see it. While the people closest to him are the ones he acts gentler to, he actually does good things to others as well, it’s just much more subtle. He hates getting dragged into other people’s problems, but if it’s from his own free will, he genuinely likes to help. (Obviously, the work given by royals doesn’t count as “being dragged into problems” since it’s a honor to help them.) Basch may not appear as helpful, but if someone is in trouble, he’ll assist in his own, subtle way.
He tends to be overprotective when it comes to his little sister, even a bit possessive. He is very fond of her, and knowing that there are many bad things in this world, he tries to help her avoid them. Himself, he sees his actions as a normal responsibility about his sister, and not as the exaggerated protectiveness everyone else sees it. But this all only tells about his deep caring towards her sister.
Young man tries to stay neutral on as many things he can, with varying consequences. Obviously he has bias towards his kingdom and it’s rulers, but generally doesn’t take any sides. He doesn’t have many friends, neither many enemies. His behaviour towards other usually stays the same, of course his little sister being an exception. He always returns a favour, and can hold grudges at time, but usually keeps these to himself, not letting them affect his relationships too much. While sometimes interfering other people’s problems in order to help, he dislikes taking sides and preferring something to other for no other reason than just because. If you ask his opinion on something, he’ll most likely give the most logical answer, not necessarily the one he actually agrees with.
Altogether, Basch prefers to act logically. He does have a lot of common sense, but sometimes due to his short temper he acts before thinks. However, when not annoyed, he can function very rationally. Coming from a noble family, he got a good education. While he is talented in the academic sense as well, his intelligence shows the most when talking about practical things. This is a useful feature to have in his position, probably one reason why he even is in it at the first place. Overall, he is something someone could call a perfect soldier; obedient, loyal, hardworking and clever. He also has excellent combat skills.
He is quite frugal notwithstanding his background. Basch did grow up in a noble family, which was moderately rich. Being the only son in the family, he probably could’ve had got anything he wanted. However, we’ll never know, since young boy decided to save almost all the money he got, and almost never asked for anything, the least anything useless. Everything he buys is something useful, and even with those things he tries to save money.
Grey knight is very hardworking. When given a task, he tries to accomplish it well, usually succeeding, due to his diligent nature. He is determined as well, refusing to give up or back off before the job is done. As mentioned above, he also sometimes helps others with their work as well. Actually, he does to it due to his hidden, kind nature, but always claims to do it for either money or because he can do it better.
Taking into account his protectiveness, intellect and stinginess, Basch can be quite a worrywart. He always tries to think of the worst outcome, then how to prevent it. Because of this, he can be very stressed at times. Worrying about the things that could happen does sometimes gives him a headache. This is generally his only sickness. For the most part, Basch is very healthy young man, who takes good care of his wellbeing. Being healthy and athletic is of course required in his occupation, too.
Overall, Basch is a man who wears armor around him, as well as mentally as physically. However, under that hard shell is a man with a heart of gold.

History: 1st of August a son was born to one of the noble families of Medius. The child, later named Basch Zwingli was never spoiled with love and care. His parents started to raise their son at early age to act like it was required from someone of his position. Rare were the moments he was given the tenderness that children need. Even from his behalf, it was never encouraged, and soon child learnt to be as cold and aloof as his parents.
Occupations such as knight and rook are always chosen carefully, and you can’t become one just by asking. Nevertheless, Basch’s parents were determined to make their son devote to his kingdom, most preferably by becoming at least a pawn. In addition to his strict upbringing to be an acceptable heir to family, he also began a hard training to become a good soldier to serve their kingdom.
When he Basch was 15, he became a big brother. Not through blood, though. Their family adopted a girl two years younger than him from local orphanage. At first he was as cold towards the girl as his parents, since he was never really taught friendliness. Social norms, yes, but not true love and care. Soon he saw, that the girl was different, much gentler than the people he had grown up with. Bit by bit he began to act nicer towards the girl he now called his little sister. Due to his upbringing, he was very clumsy with expressing his emotions from time to time, but soon a strong bond was created between the siblings.
As years flew by, young man came to age when he could seek for an occupation in his kingdom. Thanks to his upbringing for this certain purpose, he passed the test with no problems whatsoever. He was now a pawn, a soldier in the royal army. In this rank he stayed for few years.
People age, that’s a fact of life. In terms of Basch’s life, not only his own aging, but also someone else’s caused him to pursue in his career. This particular person was the knight before him. Knight’s job is demanding, and he started to be to old to meet the requirements of it. Soon they started to look for a new knight among the pawns. While Basch was quite young, he had also proved to be very good and capable soldier. Possessing many good qualities for the position of a knight, he was chosen to maintain the job.
While his childhood wasn’t probably filled with happiness, but rather hard work and big expectations, Basch grew up to be a good man. Despite his career almost forced to him by his parents, he genuinely likes the job. Grey knight is honored to serve his bellowed country and it’s rulers the best he can.

Roleplay Sample:
Warm breeze blew through the grey kingdom; beyond it’s fields and streets. It also passed a man, blowing some oh his blonde hair into his face. That figure was a certain grey knight. Basch had no particular tasks at the current moment, so he just stuck to walking around the city. Though, his “walking around” was more like circulating the grounds of castle. He didn’t like big crowds, and the streets of the city were usually the most human-filled place in Medius.
Glancing into sky, he saw dark clouds approaching. Seemed that it was going to rain, and it was going to rain soon. Someone could have thought ‘what a pity it’s going to rain’ or ‘ it’s good that it rains’. As usual, Basch’s opinion about the topic was - what a surprise – neutral. He didn’t see rain as a bad thing, but didn’t enjoy it either. It was a natural phenomenon that couldn’t be helped. Another situation when man had to bend to will of earth.
And as he thought this, the first raindrops fell. Clouds were dark, covering even the last rays of sun that had been on the sky. Rain started as slow and irregular, but soon it was raining like no tomorrow. ‘Typical shower’ thought knight, as he watched it pour. He was standing under an arch, to avoid getting wet. Water filled streets and ditches, leaving streaks to windows. Streets were empty, as everyone had gone inside in order to escape the rain.
Then, as soon as it had come it was gone. Only puddles all around were marks that it had ever rained there. Sun was clear, rays of sunlight sparkling as it hit water. Most people were still inside, not reacting to the end of bad weather. This was a moment Basch liked, if you could say so. No people to be seen, the fresh smell of ground after rain filling the air.
Man stepped out from underneath the arch, just to walk into a puddle. He felt as the water filled his shoe, coming through leather and cloth, wetting his skin. Noble cursed under his breath. There was nothing more he could do, since accident had already happened and he really couldn’t blame anyone about it. It was just bad luck. Now cursing the former, he started to walk towards the castle, in order to do something to the wet shoe in his foot.
